Abstract
With the intensification of population aging, the demand for long-term care services for the elderly is growing steadily. However, traditional service systems face challenges such as dispersed resources and insufficient professionalism, necessitating the optimization of resource allocation and service efficiency through a social work integration model. This study aims to explore the integration mechanisms and practical pathways of social work within the long-term care service system for the elderly to enhance service quality and sustainable development capabilities. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining literature analysis, questionnaire surveys, and in-depth interviews to conduct case studies on ten representative care institutions in an eastern Chinese city, supplemented by comparative analysis of international experiences. The findings indicate that the social work integration model effectively connects resources across multiple domains, including medical care, rehabilitation, and psychological support, forming a comprehensive service system centered on the needs of the elderly. Moreover, this model significantly improves the quality of life and satisfaction of service recipients while promoting inter-departmental collaboration efficiency. The innovation of this study lies in the first-time proposal of a "need-oriented social work integration fr amework," which emphasizes multi-level intervention strategies ranging from micro-level interventions to macro-level policy formulation. This fr amework provides theoretical support and practical guidance for constructing a long-term care service system for the elderly that aligns with China's national conditions. Its primary contributions include filling a research gap in domestic studies and offering concrete and feasible operational guidelines for policymakers and practitioners.
