  随着全球化进程的加速,英语电影作为跨文化传播的重要媒介,在促进文化理解与交流方面发挥着不可替代的作用,而字幕翻译则成为观众理解影片内容和文化内涵的关键桥梁。本研究旨在探讨英语电影字幕翻译中的文化传递策略及其对观众接受度的影响,通过分析翻译过程中文化信息的保留、转化与缺失现象,揭示其对观众认知和情感体验的作用机制。研究采用定量与定性相结合的方法,首先以20部具有代表性的英语电影为语料库,运用语料分析技术提取并分类字幕中的文化元素;其次,通过问卷调查和深度访谈收集中国观众对不同翻译策略的反馈数据。研究发现,字幕翻译中灵活运用归化与异化策略能够有效平衡文化忠实度与语言可读性,从而提升观众的文化认同感与观影满意度。此外,研究还指出,部分文化负载项在翻译过程中因篇幅限制或文化差异而被简化或省略,这可能影响观众对原作文化的全面理解。本研究的创新点在于首次系统地将观众接受度纳入字幕翻译效果评估框架,并提出了基于文化传递优先级的翻译优化模型,为提高跨文化传播效率提供了理论支持与实践指导。

Abstract

  With the acceleration of globalization, English-language films serve as a crucial medium for cross-cultural communication, playing an irreplaceable role in promoting cultural understanding and exchange, while subtitle translation acts as a key bridge for audiences to comprehend film content and cultural connotations. This study investigates the cultural transmission strategies in the subtitle translation of English-language films and their impact on audience reception. By analyzing the phenomena of preservation, transformation, and loss of cultural information during the translation process, the study reveals the underlying mechanisms of how these strategies influence audience cognition and emotional experience. A mixed-methods approach is adopted, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data. First, a corpus of 20 representative English-language films is established, and corpus analysis techniques are employed to extract and categorize cultural elements in subtitles. Second, feedback data from Chinese audiences regarding various translation strategies are collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that the flexible application of domestication and foreignization strategies can effectively balance cultural fidelity with linguistic accessibility, thereby enhancing audience cultural identification and viewing satisfaction. Additionally, the study highlights that some culture-laden items are simplified or omitted due to length constraints or cultural differences, which may affect the audience's comprehensive understanding of the original work's cultural context. The innovation of this research lies in its systematic integration of audience reception into the evaluation fr amework of subtitle translation effectiveness, along with the proposal of a translation optimization model based on the priority of cultural transmission. This provides theoretical support and practical guidance for improving the efficiency of cross-cultural communication.
