摘 要：英语委婉语作为一种重要的语言现象，广泛应用于跨文化交流中，其研究背景源于语言学、社会学和心理学的交叉领域。本研究旨在探讨英语委婉语在交际中的功能及其对心理机制的影响，通过分析其在不同语境下的使用特点，揭示其背后的文化内涵和社会意义。研究采用定量与定性相结合的方法，收集了大量真实语料，并运用语用学理论和认知心理学模型进行深入分析。结果表明，英语委婉语不仅具有缓解言语冲突、维护社交和谐的功能，还在心理层面起到缓冲负面情绪、降低认知负荷的作用。此外，研究发现不同文化背景下的委婉语使用存在显著差异，这为跨文化交际提供了新的视角。本研究的创新点在于首次将心理分析引入委婉语研究，构建了一个综合性的分析框架，弥补了传统研究中对心理因素关注不足的缺陷。主要贡献体现在深化了对英语委婉语交际功能的理解，同时为语言教学和跨文化沟通实践提供了理论支持和实际指导。

Abstract：English euphemisms, as an important linguistic phenomenon, are widely used in cross-cultural communication and their study is rooted in the intersection of linguistics, sociology, and psychology. This research aims to explore the functions of English euphemisms in communication and their impact on psychological mechanisms by analyzing their usage characteristics in different contexts to reveal the underlying cultural connotations and social significance. A combined quantitative and qualitative approach was adopted, collecting a large amount of authentic data and employing pragmatic theory and cognitive psychology models for in-depth analysis. The results indicate that English euphemisms not only serve to mitigate verbal conflicts and maintain social harmony but also function at the psychological level by buffering negative emotions and reducing cognitive load. Moreover, significant differences in euphemism usage across different cultural backgrounds were identified, providing new insights into cross-cultural communication. The novelty of this study lies in its pioneering integration of psychological analysis into euphemism research, constructing a comprehensive analytical fr amework that addresses the previous lack of attention to psychological factors in traditional studies. The main contributions include enhancing the understanding of the communicative functions of English euphemisms and offering theoretical support and practical guidance for language teaching and intercultural communication practices.
