EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON WHEAT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND ITS COPING STRATEGIES

ABSTRACT

The influence of climate change on wheat growth and development and its coping strategies are of great significance. With global warming, extreme weather events occur frequently, and environmental factors such as temperature, precipitation and light change significantly, which directly affect the yield and quality of wheat. The aim of this study is to investigate the changing rules of wheat growth and development in the context of climate change and propose effective coping strategies. By collecting wheat planting data from different regions in the past 30 years, combining with meteorological data, using statistical analysis and model simulation, the influence of climate change on key indicators such as wheat growth period, plant height and ear grain number was systematically analyzed. The study shows that the increase of temperature shortens the growth period of wheat, and the decrease of precipitation in some areas leads to the aggravation of drought stress, which affects photosynthesis and material accumulation. The adaptive cultivation mode of wheat based on the climate prediction model was innovatively constructed, which provided a scientific basis for the optimization of sowing period and irrigation system. The results show that taking reasonable agronomic measures can effectively alleviate the negative impact of climate change, ensure the stable and high yield of wheat, and provide important support for the national food security.
