Abstract

This paper gives a comprehensive overview of the application of new damping materials and their challenges and coping strategies. First, the damping materials are defined and classified, and then the unique characteristics of the new damping materials, such as excellent energy consumption performance and stability, are elaborated. In the field of fr ame absorption, the application of new damping materials significantly improves the seismic performance of structures, and reduces the response of structures in earthquakes by absorbing and dissipating seismic energy, including displacement and acceleration. In addition, these materials also promote the optimization of the shock absorption design, take into account the safety and economy of the structure, and thus improve the economic and social benefits of the project. However, the new damping materials still face many challenges in practical application, including the instability of material performance, such as poor environmental adaptability and performance decay over time; relatively high cost, increased engineering investment; complex design and construction, higher professional knowledge and skills; and maintenance and replacement difficulties, which affect the reliability of long-term use. To meet these challenges, this paper proposes strategies for strengthening material research and development, conducting environmental adaptability testing and performance evaluation, reducing production costs, strengthening on-site guidance and supervision, and implementing regular maintenance and inspection. These strategies are designed to improve the stability and durability of new damped materials, reduce use costs, simplify design and construction processes, and ensure their long-term effectiveness in shock absorption of fr ame structures.
