ABSTRACT

As the issue of global climate change becomes increasingly severe, carbon emissions from the construction industry have emerged as a critical topic in sustainable development research. This study aims to develop a systematic methodology for assessing carbon emissions in green buildings, quantifying the carbon footprint across the entire life cycle of buildings and providing scientific support for low-carbon building design. Based on internationally recognized carbon emission accounting standards and incorporating the specific characteristics of China's construction industry, this research proposes an integrated evaluation fr amework that encompasses four stages: material production, construction, operation and maintenance, and demolition and recycling. By introducing dynamic life cycle analysis and regionalized carbon emission factors, the proposed method can more accurately reflect the carbon emission characteristics of different types of buildings in various regions. The study validates the method through case studies of typical green buildings, demonstrating its effectiveness in identifying high-carbon-emission phases within the building life cycle and offering data-driven support for the formulation of emission reduction strategies. Compared with traditional assessment methods, this research innovatively integrates time dimensions and regional differences, significantly enhancing the accuracy and applicability of the evaluation results. Furthermore, a user-friendly carbon emission calculation tool has been developed, providing technical support for architects, developers, and relevant decision-makers. Overall, this study not only enriches the theoretical system for assessing carbon emissions in green buildings but also offers practical pathways for promoting the low-carbon transformation of the construction industry.
