《雾都孤儿》是查尔斯·狄更斯创作的一部经典小说，其中南希这一人物形象蕴含了深刻的社会与道德内涵。本研究以南希为切入点，探讨其在复杂社会环境中的道德困境及其挣扎过程。研究旨在通过文本细读和批判性分析，揭示南希作为底层女性在罪恶与善良之间的矛盾心理，并结合19世纪英国社会背景，剖析其行为选择的深层动因。采用文学批评与社会历史分析相结合的方法，从伦理学、性别研究和社会阶级等多重视角对南希的形象进行解读。研究表明，南希既是一个被压迫的底层女性，又是一个具有强烈道德意识的个体，她的挣扎体现了个人良知与社会环境的冲突。本研究的创新点在于将南希置于更广泛的社会结构中考察，超越了传统对其单一化的善恶评价，从而丰富了对这一人物的理解。研究结论表明，南希的道德困境不仅是个人的选择问题，更是社会不公与伦理矛盾的缩影，为理解狄更斯作品中的人性深度提供了新的视角。关键词：南希; 道德困境; 底层女性; 社会不公; 伦理矛盾
Abstract
Oliver Twist is a classic novel by Charles Dickens, and the character of Nancy embodies profound social and moral implications. This study focuses on Nancy as an entry point to explore her moral dilemmas and struggles within a complex social environment. Through close reading and critical analysis, the research reveals Nancy's contradictory psychology as a lower-class woman caught between evil and goodness, while situating her behavior within the context of 19th-century British society to examine the deeper motivations behind her choices. By employing a methodology that combines literary criticism with socio-historical analysis, the study interprets Nancy’s character from multiple perspectives, including ethics, gender studies, and social class. The findings indicate that Nancy is both an oppressed lower-class woman and an individual with a strong moral consciousness, whose struggles reflect the conflict between personal conscience and societal circumstances. The innovation of this research lies in its examination of Nancy within a broader social structure, moving beyond traditional dichotomous evaluations of good and evil, thereby enriching the understanding of this character.
