Analysis of Labor Market Changes in the Context of Aging Population

Abstract: In the context of an increasingly aging society, this study conducts an in-depth analysis of the changes experienced by the labor market. With the growth of the proportion of the elderly population, significant transformations have emerged in the supply-demand relationship, employment structure, and labor force participation rate within the labor market. The primary ob jective of this research is to explore the specific impacts of aging on the labor market and propose corresponding strategies. To achieve this goal, we employ a combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative interviews. By collecting a substantial amount of relevant data and utilizing statistical software for in-depth analysis, coupled with interviews with employers and employees, we aim to obtain comprehensive research results. Our findings reveal that aging has led to labor shortages in certain industries, particularly those requiring manual labor or rapid response capabilities. Simultaneously, the increase in the elderly labor force has spurred the creation of new job opportunities, such as in the fields of elderly care and services. Furthermore, as the elderly labor force expands, the demand for training and re-education within the labor market becomes increasingly prominent. This study innovatively suggests that policy guidance and social support should be utilized to promote the re-employment and vocational training of middle-aged and elderly workers, as a means of addressing the challenges posed by aging to the labor market. Our main contribution lies in unveiling the dynamic changes within the labor market in the backdrop of aging, providing targeted recommendations and countermeasures for policymakers and enterprises to better adapt to the new trends in the labor market of an aging society.
