Abstract

Canine and feline obesity is a critical issue in current pet health management, with its incidence increasing annually and significantly impacting animal health and quality of life. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms and practical effects of nutritional management and exercise therapy in the intervention of canine and feline obesity, providing scientific evidence for clinical practice. A randomized controlled trial design was employed, selecting 120 obese dogs and cats as research subjects, which were divided into three groups: a conventional diet group, a nutritional management group, and a comprehensive intervention group (combining nutritional adjustments with customized exercise plans). Over a six-month follow-up period, data on weight changes, body fat percentage, me tabolic indicators, and behavioral characteristics were recorded. Multivariate regression analysis was utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of each intervention measure. The results demonstrated that the extent of weight reduction in the nutritional management group and the comprehensive intervention group was significantly greater than that in the conventional diet group, with the comprehensive intervention group showing superior performance in improving me tabolic disorders and enhancing activity capacity. Additionally, the study revealed that personalized exercise programs effectively increased daily activity levels and improved mental health status in dogs and cats. This research innovatively proposes a comprehensive intervention model based on individual differences, emphasizing the synergistic effects of nutrition and exercise, thereby offering new insights into the prevention and treatment of canine and feline obesity. The findings not only enrich the theoretical fr amework of pet health management but also provide specific guidance for veterinary clinical practice and daily care by pet owners.
