Abstract
Emotional disorders represent a significant concern in contemporary mental health, with the need for diverse and personalized interventions becoming increasingly apparent. Music therapy based on the theory of the Five Elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as an emerging psychological intervention, has garnered considerable attention in recent years. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of TCM Five Elements music therapy on patients with emotional disorders and to validate its feasibility and effectiveness in clinical practice. A total of 120 patients diagnosed with mild to moderate emotional disorders were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received an 8-week intervention of Five Elements music therapy, while the control group underwent conventional psychotherapy only. Assessments using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and Subjective Well-Being Scale (SWLS) revealed that the experimental group showed significantly greater improvements in depressive and anxiety symptoms and higher levels of subjective well-being compared to the control group (p0.05). Additionally, the study found that Five Elements music therapy can be precisely matched according to individual emotional characteristics and elemental attributes, thereby achieving personalized intervention effects. This innovative approach not only enriches non-pharmacological interventions for emotional disorders but also provides new insights into the integration of TCM theory with modern psychology. In conclusion, TCM Five Elements music therapy demonstrates promising application prospects in the intervention of emotional disorders, offering important references for the diversified development of the mental health field.
