社交焦虑作为一种常见的心理问题,对个体的社会功能和心理健康具有显著影响,而自尊水平作为重要的心理变量,可能在社交焦虑的形成和发展中起到关键作用。本研究旨在探讨自尊水平与社交焦虑之间的关系,并进一步分析其潜在机制。研究采用横断面调查法,选取500名大学生为研究对象,通过自尊量表(SES)和社会恐惧量表(LSAS)收集数据,并运用结构方程模型进行数据分析。结果显示,自尊水平与社交焦虑呈显著负相关,低自尊个体更易表现出高水平的社交焦虑;此外,中介效应分析表明,情绪调节能力在自尊与社交焦虑之间起到了部分中介作用。本研究的创新点在于首次将情绪调节能力纳入自尊与社交焦虑的关系模型中,揭示了情绪调节在二者关联中的重要作用,为理解社交焦虑的心理机制提供了新的视角。研究结果不仅深化了对自尊与社交焦虑关系的认识,还为制定基于提升自尊和情绪调节能力的干预策略提供了理论依据,具有重要的实践意义。

The Relationship Between Self-Esteem Levels and Social Anxiety: An Empirical Study

Abstract:Social anxiety, as a prevalent psychological issue, significantly affects individuals' social functioning and mental health. Self-esteem, as an important psychological variable, may play a critical role in the development and maintenance of social anxiety. This study aimed to explore the relationship between self-esteem and social anxiety and further analyze its underlying mechanism. A cross-sectional survey method was employed, with 500 college students recruited as participants. Data were collected using the Self-Esteem Scale (SES) and the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS), and structural equation modeling was applied for data analysis. The results indicated a significant negative correlation between self-esteem and social anxiety, suggesting that individuals with low self-esteem are more likely to exhibit high levels of social anxiety. Moreover, mediation analysis revealed that emotion regulation ability partially mediated the relationship between self-esteem and social anxiety. The novelty of this study lies in its incorporation of emotion regulation into the relationship model between self-esteem and social anxiety, highlighting the crucial role of emotion regulation in their association and providing new insights into the psychological mechanisms underlying social anxiety. The findings not only enhance the understanding of the relationship between self-esteem and social anxiety but also offer theoretical support for developing intervention strategies aimed at enhancing self-esteem and emotion regulation abilities, thus holding important practical implications.
