Abstract

With the development of smart cities, wireless Mesh networks have demonstrated significant potential in urban infrastructure monitoring, traffic management, and public safety due to their self-organizing, self-healing, and highly scalable characteristics. This study investigates the application of wireless Mesh networks in smart cities and proposes an improved algorithm based on dynamic routing optimization to enhance network performance. By analyzing the limitations of existing wireless Mesh network architectures, a novel optimization scheme that integrates node load balancing with energy-aware mechanisms is designed, effectively reducing network congestion and extending system lifetime. The research employs simulation experiments, constructing a wireless Mesh network model under typical smart city scenarios using the NS-3 platform to validate the proposed algorithm. Results indicate that the optimized algorithm significantly improves data transmission efficiency while reducing latency and packet loss rates, maintaining stable network performance even in large-scale node deployment scenarios. Additionally, this paper proposes a spectrum allocation strategy tailored for complex urban environments, further enhancing the network's interference resistance capabilities. The study reveals that wireless Mesh networks, through proper optimization design, can provide reliable technical support for various application scenarios in smart cities. The primary contribution of this research lies in proposing an efficient wireless Mesh network optimization solution suitable for smart city environments, offering valuable references for future research and practical deployment of related technologies.
