ABSTRACT

As the global water resource shortage becomes increasingly severe, water-saving technologies in building water supply and drainage systems have become an important research direction for sustainable development. This study focuses on the application and effectiveness of water-saving devices, exploring their role and optimization potential in building water management. The research background is rooted in the current demand for efficient water resource utilization in the construction sector, as well as the high water consumption and low efficiency issues associated with traditional water-use equipment. By analyzing the technical characteristics of water-saving devices and their application effects in real-world scenarios, this study aims to provide a scientific basis for building design and operation. A combination of literature review, case analysis, and field monitoring was employed to evaluate the performance of water-saving devices in typical building types, comparing their water usage data with that of conventional equipment. The results indicate that water-saving devices demonstrate significant advantages in reducing water consumption and lowering wastewater discharge, with some highly efficient devices achieving over 30% water savings while maintaining satisfactory user experiences. Additionally, the study reveals that the promotion of water-saving devices is constrained by high initial costs and insufficient public awareness, although they offer substantial long-term economic and social benefits. The innovation of this study lies in its comprehensive assessment of the technical feasibility, economic viability, and environmental benefits of water-saving devices, along with targeted promotion strategies. Its primary contribution is the provision of a reference fr amework for the selection and application of water-saving devices in the construction industry, supporting the goals of refined water resource management and green building initiatives.
