Advantages of PET-CT in Staging Diagnosis of Lymphoma 

Abstract
Lymphoma is a highly heterogeneous malignant tumor, and accurate staging diagnosis plays a critical role in the selection of treatment strategies and prognosis evaluation. Conventional imaging methods such as CT and MRI have limitations in lymphoma staging, as they struggle to comprehensively assess the extent of lesions and me tabolic activity. This study aimed to investigate the advantages and clinical application value of positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (PET-CT) in the staging diagnosis of lymphoma. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the imaging data of 120 patients with pathologically confirmed lymphoma, comparing the differences between PET-CT and conventional CT in terms of lesion detection rate, staging accuracy, and the ability to identify occult lesions. The results demonstrated that PET-CT significantly outperformed conventional CT in the overall detection rate of systemic lesions (P0.05), particularly in detecting bone marrow involvement, extramediastinal lymph node me tastases, and non-lymphoid tissue infiltration, showing higher sensitivity and specificity. Furthermore, the application of PET-CT altered the initial staging in approximately 30% of patients, thereby optimizing individualized treatment strategies. Innovatively integrating quantitative analysis with qualitative assessment, this study further validated the unique advantages of PET-CT in lymphoma staging, providing essential evidence for clinical decision-making. The findings indicate that PET-CT can substantially enhance the precision of lymphoma staging and represents one of the optimal imaging tools currently available.
