The Impact of VR Task-Oriented Training on Hand Function Recovery in Stroke Patients 

Abstract
Hand function impairment caused by stroke significantly affects patients' quality of life, and traditional rehabilitation training often suffers from monotony and insufficient compliance, highlighting the importance of exploring novel rehabilitation approaches. This study aimed to investigate the effects of virtual reality (VR)-based task-oriented training on hand function recovery in stroke patients and assess its clinical application value. Sixty stroke patients were randomly assigned to either a VR training group or a conventional rehabilitation group, both of which received an 8-week intervention. The VR training group participated in immersive task-oriented training that simulated daily living scenarios to enhance fine hand motor skills, while the conventional rehabilitation group underwent traditional physical therapy. Results demonstrated that the VR training group showed significantly greater improvements in hand function scores (e.g., nine-hole peg test, grip strength test) and upper limb motor function (Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale) compared to the conventional rehabilitation group (p0.05). Additionally, patients in the VR training group exhibited higher engagement and significantly improved compliance with the training regimen. This study innovatively integrated immersive VR technology with task-oriented training, offering new insights into hand function rehabilitation for stroke patients. It confirmed the unique advantages of VR technology in enhancing rehabilitation outcomes and patient experience, laying the foundation for the design of future personalized rehabilitation programs.
