Simvastatin's Impact on Lipid Profiles and Cardiovascular Events in Hyperlipidemic Patients
Abstract
Hyperlipidemia is a critical risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, and reducing lipid levels plays an essential role in preventing cardiovascular events. This study aimed to investigate the effects of simvastatin on lipid profiles and cardiovascular events in patients with hyperlipidemia, providing evidence for clinical treatment. A randomized double-blind controlled trial was conducted, enrolling 300 patients diagnosed with hyperlipidemia, who were divided into a simvastatin treatment group and a placebo control group, with a follow-up period of 12 months. Total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and triglyceride (TG) levels were measured, and the incidence of cardiovascular events was recorded to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the drug. The results showed that TC, LDL-C, and TG levels significantly decreased in the simvastatin treatment group, while HDL-C levels slightly increased, and the incidence of cardiovascular events was markedly lower than in the control group (P0.05). Furthermore, no serious adverse reactions were observed. This study demonstrates that simvastatin effectively improves the lipid profile in hyperlipidemic patients and significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular events, with good safety and tolerability. It further confirms the crucial role of simvastatin in lipid management and highlights the necessity of individualized treatment strategies, offering new insights for optimizing long-term management in patients with hyperlipidemia.
