Abstract:The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of English reading teaching on writing ability and its implications. Through a review of relevant researches at home and abroad, it is found that English reading has a positive impact on writing, including the improvement of vocabulary and grammar, the improvement of article structure and logic, the development of content thinking, and the improvement of coherence and fluency of discourse. Based on this, this paper puts forward some inspirations on the teaching of writing in English reading teaching, including designing effective reading tasks and exercises, cultivating students' reading interests and habits, teaching strategies combining writing and reading, and stimulating students' creativity and thinking ability. However, there are some problems in current English reading teaching, such as paying too much attention to grammar and vocabulary teaching, neglecting the cultivation of writing skills and lacking effective writing teaching methods and strategies. Therefore, this paper also puts forward some teaching strategies for English reading teaching on writing ability, including the selection and use of reading materials, the innovation and application of reading teaching methods, and the organization and implementation of writing teaching. Through the implementation of these strategies, students' writing ability can be effectively improved.
