INFLUENCE OF LIGHT AND TEMPERATURE ON REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE IN BREEDER CHICKEN MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT

The reproductive performance of breeding chickens is a critical indicator in poultry production, and light and temperature, as important environmental control factors, significantly influence their reproductive capacity. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms by which different light intensities, photoperiods, and temperature conditions affect the reproductive performance of breeding chickens, providing a scientific basis for optimizing husbandry management. A total of 300 healthy breeding chickens were selected and divided into six groups. Under controlled conditions where other variables were held constant, various light and temperature parameters were applied over a 12-week experimental period. By monitoring indicators such as egg-laying rate, fertilization rate, and hatching rate, and analyzing blood hormone levels, the results demonstrated that an appropriate photoperiod (14-16 hours/day) and moderate light intensity (20-30 lux) significantly enhanced reproductive performance. Additionally, temperatures within the range of 20-25°C were most favorable for reproduction, while deviations from this range led to hormonal secretion disorders and reduced reproductive capacity. This study is the first to quantitatively evaluate the interactive effects of light and temperature on the reproductive performance of breeding chickens, elucidating the underlying physiological mechanisms and offering significant insights for precision farming practices.
