Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the difference of soil carbon storage between coniferous forest and broad-leaved forest. By collecting soil samples at different depths under two forest types and using professional soil carbon measurement methods, the soil organic carbon content was accurately measured. The results showed that the soil carbon storage of coniferous forest was generally higher than that of broad-leaved forest, which may be related to the slower decomposition rate of litters and the higher accumulation of organic matter in coniferous forest. In addition, soil depth also has a significant effect on carbon storage, and carbon storage gradually decreases with the increase of soil depth. The effects of soil types, climatic conditions and vegetation characteristics on soil carbon storage were further discussed, and the different roles of coniferous forest and broad-leaved forest in the carbon cycle were revealed. This study not only provides a scientific basis for further understanding of the effects of different forest types on soil carbon storage, but also provides a new perspective for the study of forest carbon cycle and global climate change. Through comparative analysis, we found that coniferous forests showed higher carbon storage potential, which is of great significance for forest management and carbon sink function enhancement. At the same time, this study also provides theoretical support for the sustainable development of forest ecosystem and the maintenance of carbon balance.
