Research on the Improvement of Financial Consumer Rights Protection Mechanism

Abstract: With the rapid development of financial markets and the increasing complexity of financial products, the protection of financial consumers' rights and interests has gradually become a focal point of attention in both academic and practical circles. This study aims to improve the mechanism for protecting financial consumers' rights and interests, drawing on relevant theories and practices from domestic and international contexts. It delves into the deficiencies and their underlying causes within the current system of financial consumer protection in China. By employing a combination of methods including literature analysis, case studies, and questionnaire surveys, this research systematically examines the practical challenges faced by financial consumers, such as information asymmetry, unfair contracts, and an underdeveloped dispute resolution mechanism. Furthermore, it proposes targeted optimization pathways. The findings indicate that the existing protection mechanisms suffer from issues such as an incomplete legal fr amework, insufficient regulatory coordination, and a weak consumer education system, all of which undermine the effectiveness of safeguarding financial consumers' rights to some extent. In response, this study innovatively advocates for the construction of a multi-layered and collaborative protection system, which includes strengthening legislative support, optimizing regulatory cooperation mechanisms, and promoting the application of fintech in rights protection. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of enhancing financial literacy and recommends utilizing diversified educational approaches to strengthen financial consumers' self-protection capabilities. Overall, this research not only provides theoretical support for improving the mechanism of financial consumer protection in China but also offers specific references for policy formulation and practical improvements, playing a significant role in promoting the healthy development of financial markets.
