Abstract
This article aims to explore in depth the artistic characteristics and profound influence of rural life desc ription and spiritual ex pression in Shen Congwen's novel "Border Town". The research background and significance lie in the fact that "Border Town", as a classic work of modern Chinese literature, its delicate portrayal of rural life and profound emotional ex pression not only showcase the unique customs of the Xiangxi border, but also contain rich humanistic care and social thinking. Through methods such as literature analysis and text review, this article systematically reviews the research status of "Border Town" both domestically and internationally, and conducts in-depth discussions on this basis. Chapter 2 briefly introduces the background, creative process, main characters and plot of "Border Town", as well as the literary style and artistic characteristics of the work, laying the foundation for subsequent analysis. Chapter Three focuses on a deep analysis of the desc ription of rural life, revealing the true and profound reflection of the work on rural life from the perspectives of natural environment, daily details, character images, and changes in fate. It also explores the social implications behind it and its implications for modern society. At the same time, it emphasizes the inheritance and development of traditional literature through this desc ription, as well as its positive impact on later literature.
