Abstract

As one of Mr. Lao She's representative works, "Camel Xiangzi" reveals the complex landscape of old Chinese society through the delicate portrayal of the fate of small figures in the lower class society. This article focuses on the distinctive character Tigress in the work, deeply analyzes her personality traits and their causes, and explores the significance of these characteristics in shaping the image of ordinary people. The most prominent characteristic of Tigress's personality is her resilience and independence. She lives in an unfair environment, but never bows to fate and bravely pursues her own happiness. At the same time, she also shows a cunning and witty side, able to flexibly deal with various complex situations. Her enthusiasm and frankness make her appear sincere and frank in interpersonal communication. However, there are also contradictions and struggles in Tigress's personality. She longs for both love and family warmth, but also has to face the cruelty and ruthlessness of reality. The personality traits of Tigress are of great significance in shaping the image of ordinary people. Firstly, her resilience and independence reflect the universality of the character of a petty person. In old Chinese society, many small people faced the pressure and challenges of survival, and they had to learn to be strong and independent in order to survive. Secondly, Tigress's unique personality sets her apart from many ordinary people. Her cunning, wit, enthusiasm, and straightforwardness have made her a character with a distinct personality. Finally, through in-depth analysis of the personality traits of Tigress, we can reflect more deeply on the fate of ordinary people and the problems in real society. The story of Tigress shows us the helplessness and struggle of ordinary people in old Chinese society, and also prompts us to think about how to create a better living environment for them.
