Abstract
This paper comprehensively and deeply discusses the construction of city image and the artistic ex pression of nostalgia complex in contemporary poetry, as well as the profound influence of urbanization process reflected behind this ex pression on individual emotional world. First of all, this paper analyzes in detail the multiple ways of constructing city image in contemporary poetry, including the interweaving of realistic and surreal elements, the clever use of symbols and symbolism, the deep penetration of emotion and experience, and the profound inheritance of history and culture. These elements together constitute the rich and complex urban picture in the poem, which provides a broad stage for the ex pression of nostalgia complex. In the artistic ex pression of nostalgia complex, this paper focuses on the clever use of image, the span of time and space, the deep integration of emotion and philosophy, and the pursuit of musicality and rhythm. Through these techniques, the poet not only expresses his deep nostalgia for his native land and complex emotions for modern urban life, but also reveals the confusion of individual identity, the reconstruction of emotional ties and the transformation of values in the process of urbanization.
