Abstract

At present, it is urgent to solve the problem of energy shortage and environmental change, and efficient and sustainable communication methods are crucial. This paper explores energy efficiency in communications engineering and emphasizes the role of green communications in economics, technology, social sustainability and corporate responsibility. The paper defines energy efficiency and green communication goals and analyzes their importance to the communications industry, including promoting economic growth, technological innovation, meeting sustainable development needs and enhancing corporate image. At the same time, the paper discusses the energy efficiency challenges faced by communication engineering, such as the high energy consumption of traditional systems, the energy efficiency bottleneck of future communication technologies, and the energy consumption of data centers. To address the challenge, the paper details green communication strategies, including energy efficiency optimization techniques, green base station design, and energy efficiency improvement measures for cloud and edge computing. Finally, through case analysis, the success of green communication practice is demonstrated, and the business value and implementation challenges and solutions are analyzed, aiming to provide theoretical and practical guidance for the communication industry.
