Abstract

Calcified root canals represent a common challenge in endodontic treatment, often difficult to negotiate using conventional methods. Microscopic endodontic treatment significantly enhances the ability to manage calcified canals through high-magnification visualization and precise instrumentation. This study systematically analyzes the clinical characteristics, therapeutic principles, instrument selection, and procedural protocols of calcified root canals based on microscopic techniques, clarifying their indications and clinical challenges. A retrospective case analysis was conducted by enrolling patients with calcified root canals who met inclusion criteria, documenting treatment procedures and follow-up outcomes to evaluate clinical efficacy. Statistical results showed an overall treatment success rate of 89.3%, with complication rates maintained within acceptable limits. Further analysis revealed that the degree of root canal calcification, iatrogenic procedural errors, and patient-specific factors were the primary determinants affecting prognosis. Severe calcification cases require integration of ultrasonic instruments and navigational technologies to improve canal patency. Standardized procedural protocols and operator experience are critical in mitigating procedure-related risks. Patient age, tooth location distribution, and prior treatment history also exerted notable influence on treatment outcomes. Optimization of microscopic technical approaches can significantly enhance predictability and safety in treatment. This study confirms the effectiveness of microscopic endodontic treatment in managing complex calcified cases and proposes targeted intervention strategies, providing reliable evidence for clinical practice.
