Abstract 
The research of intelligent traffic signal control algorithm in traffic engineering is an important way to deal with urban traffic congestion and improve traffic efficiency and safety. With the rapid development of science and technology, the traditional traffic signal control method has been difficult to meet the complex needs of modern urban traffic. Therefore, the research and application of intelligent traffic signal control algorithm has become one of the hot spots in the field of traffic engineering. Urban traffic system is a complex network, in which traffic signal control is the key link to ensure smooth traffic and reduce accident risk. With the acceleration of urbanization and the sharp increase in the number of vehicles, traffic congestion and frequent accidents have become the bottleneck restricting urban development. Intelligent traffic signal control algorithm can realize intelligent control of traffic signals by using advanced computer technology, data analysis and optimization theory, so as to improve traffic efficiency, reduce congestion degree and accident risk, which is of great significance for the sustainable development of urban traffic. The research content of intelligent traffic signal control algorithm mainly includes the collection and processing of traffic flow data, the design and optimization of traffic signal control strategy, and the realization and verification of the algorithm. Researchers acquire real-time traffic flow data by developing various sensors, cameras and other devices, and use machine learning, deep learning and other algorithms to predict and analyze traffic flow.
